Numos - Financial Planning & Analysis

Overview

Enterprise finance leaders manage massive data volumes but are heavily restricted by legacy software and strict legal accountability. Numos AI bridges this gap by introducing an enterprise-grade AI execution layer that connects natively to existing financial stacks (ERPs, billing tools, and spreadsheets) to act as an autonomous AI teammate.  

As the lead design and development partner, the objective was twofold: architect a high-converting, premium marketing presence that communicates enterprise trust, and design and build a complex web application interface where human controllers can seamlessly orchestrate, audit, and review multi-step AI agent workflows.

Project Goals

• Establish Enterprise Credibility: Position Numos as a secure, compliant ($SOC\ 1 / SOC\ 2$ aligned), and highly auditable system trusted by institutional finance leaders.  
• Design a High-Signal Interface: Create an intuitive web dashboard that transforms complex, non-linear AI reasoning into transparent, reviewable steps.  
• Deliver a Premium, Scalable Marketing Web Presence: Build a lightning-fast, pixel-perfect website using Webflow to serve as the brand's core growth engine.
• Bridge Automation with Human Control: Design smooth "human-in-the-loop" interfaces that give controllers total confidence without introducing friction into automated workflows.  

Technical Implementation

1. Brand Website (Webflow Architecture)

• Advanced CMS & Layout Isolation: Built a clean, modern marketing architecture utilizing global components and strict design system tokens. Instead of generic templates, developed a custom framework built for rapid, multi-product messaging expansion.
• Interactive Visualizations: Implemented interactive graphic layers illustrating how the Numos "System of Context & Action" normalizes disparate data fields (vendors, invoices, POs) across a company's financial stack.
• Performance Optimization: Tailored clean styling architectures, clean HTML hierarchies, and asset optimization pipelines to ensure optimal loading speeds and perfect responsive breakpoints across all enterprise environments.

2. Product Development (React & TypeScript)

• Agent Execution Graph Visualization: Developed complex UI states that map asynchronous, multi-step agent actions (AP, AR, GL classification) into readable, chronological workflows.
• Contextual Data Tables & Auditing Layers: Engineered high-density data grids to present real-time variance analyses and operational anomaly detections, complete with inline source-link citations so accountants can verify the logic instantly.  

Challenges & Solutions

Challenge 1: Overcoming the "Black Box" AI Skepticism

Finance teams cannot act on calculations they don't explicitly trust or understand. Traditional AI interfaces often present a simple "output box" without explaining the logic, which fails enterprise compliance standards.  

Solution: Designed and built built-in auditability panels directly into the product workflows. Every agent action, policy retrieval, and database lookup is broken down step-by-step. The interface displays clear "explainable reasoning" modules alongside original source-document links, turning black-box outputs into easily traceable audit logs.  

Challenge 2: Balancing Automation with Guardrails

If an AI agent autonomously completes complex accounting tasks, full human over-reliance can lead to drift, while excessive pop-ups and validation gates defeat the purpose of automation.

Solution: Implemented Granular Human-In-The-Loop (HITL) Controls. The application UI categorizes agent tasks based on confidence intervals and operational thresholds. High-risk actions automatically trigger clean, high-signal "Review & Approve" interaction blocks within the dashboard, allowing controllers to intervene seamlessly without stalling the broader background engine.  

Results & Impact

• Unlocking Substantial Capital: The successful launch of the unified marketing presence and the execution-ready product interface positioned Numos to close its $4.25 Million Seed Funding Round led by General Catalyst.  
• Accelerated Financial Cycles: Enabled enterprise customers (including market leaders like Udemy and Dandy) to experience 80% faster FP&A reporting cycles and complete month-end closes in less than half the traditional time.  
• Rapid Enterprise Adoption: Built strong interface-driven product trust, securing rapid adoption by high-profile corporate leaders, including validation from former Chief Accounting Officers.  
• Seamless Hand-off Ecosystem: Established a component-driven design system token link between Webflow and React, drastically reducing design-to-development friction for fast feature releases.

Conclusion

By shifting away from standard dashboards and designing a truly interactive, contextual system of action, the Numos AI platform demonstrates how complex enterprise workflows can be safely automated. The combination of a high-converting, premium Webflow web presence and a robust, high-signal React product interface created a unified ecosystem built for scale—positioning Numos as the definitive autonomous layer for modern corporate finance.
